Diaries / The Captain’s Logbook

Fiction. Legends, sightings and most of the crew are invented. The submarine is real.

Captain Nemo learns his private log has gone online and writes a note to whoever finds it: who he is, what he records and what he will never write down.

To Whoever Finds This Log

Wednesday. I am informed that this log is now on the internet. I did not know the internet went this deep.

So, a word to whoever finds it. I am Nemo, captain of the Nautilus, builder of most of her and owner of all of her. I keep a log because a captain should, and because the Beast is never going to write down its side of things, and history ought to have mine.

You will find here the parties who have come aboard, the questions they asked at the hatch and my opinion of the Kraken, which is low. You will not find the way out. I never write that down. The sea keeps its secrets and so do I.

If you wish to come aboard, the Nautilus sails from Perth, the hunt sets out from Sydney, and Melbourne follows within weeks. There is a booking page. Barnacle insisted I mention it. He works on commission, which he is paid in screws.
